The Future. She has been working for several newspapers in Switzerland, amongst others NZZ, and even had some of her fictional texts published in London Magazine. Following her goal of working independently one day, Denisa has participated the Future. Primarily, there is a preliminary meeting to prove if the attendees satisfy all the required criteria to participate — generally, everybody comes through this. During this phase, participants are having speed-dating-sessions of five minutes each, with three to four startup companies.
Denisa passed through all these phases and is now working for a startup called The Trip Boutique , which is an online platform focussing on personalised travel guidance. Her field of responsibility is the content and communication management, including the maintenance of the blog. Once a week, she visits the Future.
Psychologists, product designers, marketing experts and various others organise workshops and give valuable advise concerning topics like design-thinking, new forms of doing business and entrepreneur-work in general. Cardinally, participants are given tools, which they can directly apply in their internship. Here, the practical part of the Future. It is the immediate contribution to the build-up of the startup, as well as the involvement in each domain and process of the company itself, that fascinates Denisa, who appreciates any learnings when it comes to working independently.
Her internship ends in September, when she will start her MA studies in Nottingham.
The principles simplified behind this type of dating are the following: there are three isotopes of carbon, 12 C, 13 C and 14 C radiocarbon. It is produced in the upper atmosphere through the collision of cosmic rays with nitrogen atoms 14 N. Once an organism dies it becomes isolated from the 14 C source. The ” 14 C clock” now starts because of radioactive decay and the consequent changes in ratio of 14 C to 13 C and 12 C.

The geochronology group explores soil and landscape processes using relative and numerical techniques. We use a broad spectrum of methods to date landscape changes and geomorphic surface dynamics. Among these techniques are radiocarbon dating 14 C , 10 Be exposure dating, dendrochronology and others. A strong enhancement in methodology is achieved by cross-checking the different dating methods, by deriving time-dependent sequences and by the development of new techniques.
The considered period is the Quaternary. A special but non-exclusive emphasis is given to alpine and high-alpine landscapes and processes, especially those found close to and above the timberline where the environments are highly dynamic and sensitive. Our main objectives are the identification and quantification of processes such as soil formation, weathering and erosion, their interrelationships with the surrounding conditions and the development of qualitative and quantitative models.
Quaternary and present time periods at both local and regional scales are an integral part of our research philosophy.
